THE PLATFORM

The national grassroots layer for UK badminton.

One operating layer for the clubs, associations, counties and players that make British badminton.

THE STRATEGIC GAP

773,000 of us.

Roughly 810,000 people play badminton regularly in England. Just 36,655 are registered with Badminton England. The rest of us are why this platform exists.

Each dot is roughly 8,100 players. The five solid dots are the players Badminton England can currently see.

Sources: Badminton England Annual Report 2024 to 25 (registered membership 36,655 at 31 March 2025); Badminton England 10-Year Strategy 2023 to 2033 (approximately 1 million adults play in England); Sport England Active Lives Nov 2023 to Nov 2024, a regular player defined as participation twice in the last 28 days.

The architecture

Four first-class audiences.

Each tier stands alone. When they connect, the network compounds.

  1. i
    Players
    ~1mregular UK players

A profile that follows you between clubs and seasons. Match history, ranking, friends. The consumer surface of the sport.

  2. ii
    Clubs
    ~1,500clubs across the UK

Members, payments, applications, club night, peg board. The operational layer where committees actually run their week.

  3. iii
    Associations
    ~200district badminton associations

The volunteer-run district BAs that organise league seasons, cup competitions, ladders. The competitive heart of grassroots badminton.

  4. iv
    Counties
    41+county associations in England

Pathway, town teams, county events, audit-grade reporting to Badminton England. The governance layer.

THE FLYWHEEL

A network that compounds.

Every layer makes the next more valuable.

1
STEP 1

Clubs join for the tools that run their week.

2
STEP 2

Their players bring their badminton life onto the platform.

3
STEP 3

Associations and counties connect those clubs into competitions.

4
STEP 4

Each connected layer makes the others more useful.

5
STEP 5

The grassroots game, finally joined up in one place.

WHO PARTNERS WITH US

Four conversations we want to have.

BADMINTON ENGLAND / HOME NATIONS

Participation intelligence and grassroots delivery infrastructure.

The data layer your 10-Year Strategy depends on. Club health dashboards. Junior retention analytics. Inclusion measurement at club level.

COUNTY ASSOCIATIONS

An operational platform for the work counties already do.

Roll up across every district association and club. Junior pathway visibility. Audit-grade reporting to BE. Succession-proof institutional memory.

BRANDS & RETAILERS

Reach players, on their terms.

Opt-in, club-controlled partnerships, equipment, apparel, court hire and coaching, surfaced only where players have chosen to see them. Players stay in control of what they share, always.

SPONSORS & FUNDERS

Measurable outcomes for grassroots investment.

Funded participation programmes you can actually report on, and inclusion delivery you can measure, delivered through the clubs, associations and counties already doing the work, without disturbing the safeguarding boundary.

THE QUESTIONS WE GET

What partners ask before they pick up the phone.

What exactly is Badminton Clubhouse building?

One operating layer for the four audiences that hold UK badminton together: clubs, associations (the district / local bodies that run leagues, cups and ladders), counties and players. Each is independently valuable, and each works on its own. When they connect, the whole grassroots game becomes joined up in one place.

Why start with one county?

Density before scale. We would rather serve one county properly, every club, every association, every player who wants in, than spread thinly across forty. A county where the fixtures, results and pathways all live in one place is a far stronger foundation to build the rest of the country on.

What partnership conversations are you open to?

Four. (1) Badminton England and the home nations, grassroots delivery infrastructure and club-level insight. (2) County and district associations, an operational platform for the work you already do. (3) Brands and retailers, opt-in, club-controlled partnerships that players choose to see. (4) Sponsors and funders, measurable outcomes for grassroots investment.

How does this relate to Badminton England?

Complementarily, not competitively. Badminton England’s registered membership is real and necessary, affiliation, governance, international representation. Most people who play regularly aren’t on any list, and serving them is the grassroots challenge of the next decade. Our role is to help clubs, associations, counties and the home nations see and serve that wider playing population.

Is my data private and safe?

Yes. We never sell your data. Anything that is ever shared runs through opt-in, granular, withdrawable consent, recorded at the player level, with a full audit trail. You stay in control of what you share, and you can change your mind at any time.
