Creating a club

You can found a new badminton club on the platform whether or not you personally play. The flow is the same; what changes is how you appear inside the club afterwards.

Before you start

  • Have a name and short URL slug in mind (e.g. Wiltshire Wing Smasherswiltshire-wing-smashers).
  • Decide whether you'll also be a playing member of the club, or only its administrator.

The flow

  1. Go to /create-club (or "Create a new club" on the login page).
  2. Step 1 — Club details: enter the club name, URL slug, and a contact email. The slug must be unique.
  3. Step 2 — Will you play? Choose Yes or No.
- Yes — you become both an admin (chairman role) AND a playing member with the default membership type. You appear in the member list and your name shows up in lineups, applications, etc.

- No — you become a chairman admin only. You do not appear in the member list and no membership fee applies to you. You can still administer everything — settings, members, teams, finances.

  1. Step 3 — Your account: if you're signed in, this step is skipped (we reuse your existing account). If you're not, enter your name, email, and password to create a player account at the same time.
  2. Create club — submission seeds default data (membership type, role catalogue) and emails you a welcome.

After creation

You land on a success page with links to your new club's dashboard. From there:

  • Invite the rest of your committee — see Inviting a non-playing admin. Treasurers, secretaries, welfare officers etc. can be invited without becoming players.
  • Adjust the default Monthly Member membership type from Settings → Memberships.
  • Start adding members directly, or open applications.

Changing your mind later

  • You said "no" but now want to play: join your own club from /me/clubs like any other member.
  • You said "yes" but now want to step back from playing: archive your member record from Admin team → Members. Your admin role stays.
