Learn about the different membership statuses and what they mean for your club access
Understanding Your Membership Status
Your access to club features depends on two things:
- Your profile is complete — all required fields filled in
- Your membership is active — not lapsed
When both are true, you have full access. If either slips, gated features lock until you fix it.
Membership Statuses
Active
An active membership is the normal state. When you're also running a complete profile, you have full access to:
- The club calendar
- Teams and team selection
- The member directory
- Announcements
- Resources
- Stats and performance data
Expiring
Your membership is expiring when your renewal date is approaching (within 30 days). You still have full access, but:
- A renewal banner appears on your dashboard
- You'll receive email reminders about renewal
Lapsed
A lapsed membership means your expiry date has passed. Gated features lock — you'll see a lock icon on those sidebar items and the dashboard shows a renewal prompt.
What to do: Contact the committee to renew your membership. Once renewed, access is restored immediately.Access Summary

Locked items are still visible in the sidebar with a lock icon. Hover over one and a tooltip tells you exactly what's blocking access.
Completing Your Profile
Your profile unlocks gated features. See Your Profile Settings for the full list of required fields and how to fill them in.
In short: phone, date of birth, gender, address (line 1, city, postcode), and emergency contact (name, phone, relationship).
How Your Status Changes

Automatic Status Transitions
The system checks your expiry date when you log in:
- Active → Expiring at 30 days before expiry
- Expiring → Lapsed once the expiry date passes
You'll receive an email the first time each transition happens.
Note: If you don't log in regularly, your status updates on your next visit to the portal.
Renewing Your Membership
If your membership is expiring or has lapsed:
- Check your dashboard for the renewal banner
- Contact the committee using the link provided
- Arrange payment (if applicable)
- The committee updates your membership dates
- Your status returns to Active and features unlock
Checking Your Status
Your current status is always visible:
- On the dashboard in the Membership card
- In the sidebar — locked items carry a lock icon with a tooltip explaining why
- In the welcome banner at the top of the dashboard
Troubleshooting
I can't see the calendar/directory/teams even though I'm a member
Check two things:
- Is your profile complete? Open your dashboard — if you see a "Complete Your Profile" progress card, fill in the missing fields.
- Is your membership lapsed? If the dashboard shows a renewal banner, contact the committee to renew.
I renewed but still show as lapsed
The committee needs to update your membership dates in the system. Contact them to confirm your renewal has been processed.
Features re-locked after my membership lapsed
That's expected — a lapsed membership locks gated features even if your profile is complete. Renew and access is restored immediately.
