Finding and Joining a Club

The Find a club page (/find-a-club) lets you discover badminton clubs near you. You can browse without an account; the actions on each club card adapt to where you are in your journey, from a low-commitment Follow to a full Apply.

Getting There

Open /find-a-club from anywhere, there's no sign-in required. From inside the app, the Find a club quick action on your /me home and the Find a club entry in the club switcher both lead here.

Searching and Filtering

Use the filter bar at the top of the page to narrow results:

  • Postcode: filter by your area
  • Day of the week: when you can play
  • Level: beginner, intermediate, club, county, etc.
  • Juniors welcome: clubs that take under-18 players
  • Age band: for juniors
  • Accepting members: clubs currently open for new members
  • Coaching: clubs that offer coached sessions
  • Centre / radius: search around a specific postcode

Results refresh as you change filters. If a search returns nothing, try widening the radius or clearing some filters.

What's on Each Club Card

Each result card shows the club name, area, days they play, level mix, junior provision, and (where relevant) a short blurb. Below the card you'll see up to three action buttons depending on the club's settings.

The Three Actions

Follow

A no-commitment way to keep tabs on a club. Tap Follow and you'll start receiving the announcements the club chooses to share with followers, news of new sessions, events, and similar, without being a member.

  • Available for any club.
  • If you aren't signed in, you'll be sent to the login page first and bounced back to Find a club afterwards.
  • The button changes to Following once it's done. This sticks: next time you open Find a club, clubs you already follow show as Following. Hover (or tap) a Following button to Unfollow.
  • Following doesn't make you a member and doesn't share any of your personal details with the club beyond your email.

Where your follows show up:

  • Announcements: the clubs you follow feed into your global Announcements page in the account menu, so you see their news alongside any clubs you belong to. You'll get follower announcements by email and in your notifications too.
  • My clubs: clubs you follow appear on My clubs with a Following badge (unless you're already a member there, in which case you see them as a membership instead).

Request a visit

Ask the club to host you for a try-out or taster session. Available only for clubs whose visitor policy is Open or By arrangement: clubs marked Members only won't show this button.

  1. Tap Request a visit.
  2. (Optional) Add a contact phone number. We already have your email from your account; a phone gives the club another way to reach you.
  3. (Optional) Add a short message, your level, what you're looking for, anything the club should know.
  4. Tap Send request.

You don't pick a date. The committee chooses which of their upcoming sessions to invite you to, books you onto it, and emails you the session name, date and time. You'll also appear in their Visitors list automatically, so check-in at the door is one tap. You can only have one pending visit request per club at a time, submit a fresh one once the first is resolved.

Note: Visit requests are for you. If you'd like to visit a club on behalf of a child, contact the club directly for now, guardian-on-junior visit requests are managed from /me/juniors rather than the public discovery page.

Apply

Submit a full membership application. Only shown for clubs that are currently accepting members.

Tapping Apply takes you to the club's application form at /apply/[slug]. From there you'll fill in the standard application fields and submit. After submitting:

  • You'll see your application listed under My Applications.
  • The committee reviews it and either invites you, waitlists you, or declines.
  • If invited, you'll get an email with a link to accept.

See How to Apply for Membership for the full applicant journey.

What Each Action Means at a Glance

| Action | Sign-in required? | Commitment | What the club sees |

|--------|-------------------|------------|--------------------|

| Follow | Yes | None | Your email and that you're following |

| Request a visit | Yes | Low, they invite you to a session | Your name, email, optional phone and message |

| Apply | Yes (the form prefills) | High, full application | All application fields |

If a Club Doesn't Show the Button You Want

  • No Apply button: the club isn't currently accepting new members. You can still Follow to be ready when they reopen.
  • No Request a visit button: the club's visitor policy is members-only. Apply instead, or contact them another way.
