Invitations from Clubs
View and respond to invitations from clubs that want you to join, both for you and for any children you guardian
Invitations from Clubs
Invitations from clubs that have asked you to join appear on your My clubs page (/me/clubs), alongside your active memberships and any applications you have in flight. Every invitation a club sends to your email address shows up here once you're signed in, even ones sent before you had an account. Invitations a club has sent for a child you guardian appear here too.
Getting There
Navigate to Clubs from your /me sidebar. Pending invitations appear at the very top of the grid because they need your response, the rest of the grid (applications, active memberships) follows.
How Invitations Appear
Each pending invitation is a card with an amber Invitation pill in the corner. The card shows:
- The club name and identity colours
- A For [child name] subtitle if the invitation is for a junior you guardian
- The membership type offered (or "Visit invitation")
- The expiry date
- A Respond button that takes you to the accept/decline screen
- An About club link if you want to read more about the club first
Invitations that have been responded to, expired, or withdrawn by the club no longer take a slot at the top, they fold into the collapsible Past section.
Status Meanings
| Status | Where it appears | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Top of /me/clubs with an Invitation pill |
Waiting for your response |
| Accepted | An awaiting-decision application card, then an active membership card | You've accepted; the committee confirms your application, and the card becomes your membership once they do |
| Invitation declined | Past section | You've declined the invitation |
| Invitation expired | Past section | The invitation wasn't responded to within 30 days |
| Invitation withdrawn by club | Past section | The club withdrew the invitation before you responded |
Responding to an Invitation
- Click Respond on a pending invitation card.
- You'll be taken to the invitation page (
/invitations/[token]). - Choose Accept or Decline.
Accepting submits a membership application to the club: the card on /me/clubs switches to an awaiting decision state and you receive a receipt email. Once the committee confirms (usually quickly, they invited you after all), you get an email, the card becomes your active membership, and you can switch into the new club from the club switcher in the header.
Note: if the invitation was sent in response to an application you'd already submitted through the club's apply form, your membership starts as soon as you accept, with no second review.
Tip: Pending invitations expire 30 days after they were sent. If yours has expired, contact the club and ask them to send a fresh one.
Profile-Completion Gate When Accepting
If you accept an invitation and your profile is missing essential details, the platform will pause and ask for them before completing the membership. This usually happens when an invitation is your first interaction with the platform, there isn't a profile yet to attach the new membership to.
You'll be taken to a short Complete your profile flow at /me/onboarding which asks for:
- Identity: your first name, last name, and date of birth.
- Emergency contact: name, phone number, and relationship.
- Junior step (only for guardian-of-junior invitations): the child's basic profile (name, date of birth, and your relationship to them). You enter these details yourself as the guardian.
Once you've completed the steps, the platform finishes accepting the invitation automatically and lands you on My clubs (or your Juniors page for a guardian-of-junior invitation).
You only see this flow once. After your profile is complete, accepting future invitations is a single tap.
Junior Invitations
If a club has invited a junior you look after, the invitation email is sent to your address (the guardian's). When you open the invitation, you go through a child-selection step:
- Pick an existing child already linked to your account, or add a new child (name, date of birth, and your relationship to the child).
- Tick the required consents on behalf of the child.
- Confirm. A membership application is submitted for each child you selected; the club's committee approves each one to complete enrolment.
You can enrol more than one child from a single invitation if you look after siblings at the same club. Once approved, the junior starts as Pending until all required consents are recorded, at which point the club activates them.
If the club's safeguarding posture has not been set up yet, you will see a clear message and acceptance will not complete until the club finishes its setup.
Where Do These Come From?
Clubs send invitations from their admin pages, see Sending Invitations (committee article). Invitations are also created automatically when a committee member sends an invite based on your application from the public apply form.
