Your Profile Settings
Your profile contains your personal information and preferences. It lives at /me/profile and applies across every club you belong to, update once, every club sees the change.
Tip: Each club also has a lean per-club page at/{slug}/membershipcovering just your relationship to that one club (status, role, fee snapshot, leave-the-club action). Personal details all live here at/me/profile.
Your profile is organised by what you do
People use Badminton Clubhouse in different ways, and many wear more than one hat. You might be a player, a guardian of a junior, a service provider (coach, stringer, physio), an admin on a club/association/county committee, or any combination.
Your profile reflects exactly the hats you wear. At the top of your home (/me) you'll see a small roles strip with a chip for each role you hold:
- Active role chips show your current roles. Each chip links to the dedicated page for that role.
- A "+ Role" chip appears for roles you don't hold yet (Player, Guardian, Service provider). Tap it to turn that role on. The role's dedicated page becomes available immediately.
- To remove a role, tap the active chip: an "x" appears to confirm removal. The role (and its dedicated page) disappears from your account.
- Locked roles show a small lock icon instead of an "x". A role is locked when it reflects a real fact about your account: an active club membership or Badminton England membership locks Player, an active junior dependent locks Guardian, and a live service profile locks Service provider. Locked roles cannot be removed until the underlying fact changes.
- Admin only ever appears if you've been invited onto a committee by a club, association, or county. It is granted by invitation, never added or removed by you. See your admin areas.
Dedicated pages, not tabs
Each role has its own dedicated page, so you go directly to the area you need rather than scrolling through tabs. You'll have a page for each role you hold:
| Page | URL | What's in it |
|------|-----|--------------|
| Account | /me/profile | Your name, date of birth, photo, email, address, notification preferences, and emergency contact, the basics that apply to everything. |
| Player | /me/player/profile | How you play, your search postcode (where we centre your game/club/service search, separate from your home address), your Badminton England membership, your public player profile (handle, visibility) and bio, your medical notes (private, committee-only), club-discovery options, survey participation, and per-club photo consent. Reached from the Player Dashboard (/me/player) or the Profile item in the Player sidebar section. |
| Guardian | /me/guardian | Consents you've given clubs on behalf of your juniors. Manage the juniors themselves at /me/juniors. |
| Services | /me/services | Your services and public listing, covering coaching, stringing, physiotherapy, and more. |
Each page uses the always-editable style with a save bar at the bottom. Edit any field, and the save bar slides up automatically. Tap Save changes to save, or Discard to undo.
Your search postcode is separate from your home address. On the Player profile page (/me/player/profile), the postcode under How you play is the location we centre your game, club, and service search on. It starts off matching your home address (if you've set one), but you can change it to anywhere, handy for finding badminton while you're working away or travelling. Changing it doesn't touch your home address, and your home address is what clubs use when they look for players living nearby.
Completing Your Profile Unlocks the Club
When you first join, your /me/ daily-use surfaces and your per-club /{slug}/membership page are available. Features like calendar, teams, players (directory), announcements, resources, and stats stay locked across clubs until you finish filling in your profile.
The dashboard shows a progress card listing the fields still to complete. Required fields are:
- Phone number
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Address (line 1, city, postcode)
- Emergency contact (name, phone, relationship)
Once every required field is filled in, the locked navigation items unlock automatically, no admin approval needed.
Note: Your access also depends on your membership not being expired. If your membership lapses, features re-lock until you renew. See Membership Status.
Accessing Your Profile
Open the avatar menu in the top-right of any /me/ page and pick My profile (or go directly to /me/profile). You can also reach it from /me/settings under Account → Edit profile.

How to Edit
Fields are always editable: there's no separate edit mode to switch on.
- Go to the page for the area you want to change (e.g.
/me/profilefor Account details, or/me/player/profilefor your player profile). - Edit any field directly.
- As soon as something changes, the save bar slides up at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Save changes to save, or Discard to undo your pending edits.
Required Fields
Some fields are required:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
The system will notify you if you're missing required information.
Profile Photo
Adding a profile photo helps teammates recognize you. Tap the camera icon on your photo on the Account page (/me/profile). What happens next depends on the device you're using.
On a phone or tablet
Tapping the camera icon gives you two choices:
- Take photo opens your device camera so you can take a new picture there and then.
- Choose from library opens your photo library or files so you can pick an existing image.
Once you've taken or chosen a picture, it uploads straight away.
On a computer
Tapping the camera icon opens a small window with a live webcam preview:
- If your browser asks for camera permission, choose Allow.
- Line up your shot and click Capture to use the webcam picture.
- Prefer an existing file? Click Choose a file instead to pick an image from your computer.
If you don't have a webcam, or you block camera access, the window explains what happened and you can still use Choose a file instead. Either way, your new photo uploads as soon as it's captured or chosen.
Photo Guidelines
- Use a clear, recent photo
- Face should be visible
- Recommended size: at least 200x200 pixels
- Maximum file size: 5 MB
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP
Tip: A good profile photo helps captains and teammates put a face to the name!

Notifications
The Notifications section on your profile controls two things: which of your devices receive push notifications, and which categories reach you by email vs. push.
Push devices
This section lists every device where you've enabled push notifications. Each row shows the device's browser and the date you enabled it; the one you're currently viewing from is labelled (this device).
To enable push on this device- Tap Enable push on this device.
- Your browser will ask permission to show notifications, tap Allow.
- The device appears in the list. You'll now get chips on the lock screen for the categories you have turned on below.
iPhone users: push notifications only work once the app is added to your Home Screen. See Installing the App on iPhone. To remove a device
Tap the bin icon next to any device in the list. That device stops receiving push notifications immediately. You can always re-enable from that device later.
Install for reliable deliveryIf the app isn't installed as a Progressive Web App on this device, you'll see a hint encouraging you to install it. Installing means push notifications work even when your browser is closed, ideal for phones. The dashboard also shows a one-tap install banner on supported browsers.
Categories
Below the device list is a matrix of the five notification categories, each with separate Email and Push switches:
| Category | What it's for |
|----------|---------------|
| Event invitations | When you're invited to an event |
| Payment reminders | When you have an outstanding payment |
| Event cancellations | When an event you were attending or invited to is cancelled |
| Announcements | New announcements from the committee |
| RSVP confirmations | When someone responds to an event you're hosting |
Switch behaviour- On: you'll get notifications of that type on that channel
- Off: you won't
- Saved automatically when you toggle, you don't need to click Save
- Payment reminders, Email is locked on (shown as a disabled switch with a lock icon). The club still needs to reach you about overdue payments, so you can't opt out of that email.
- RSVP confirmations, Email shows a dash (-) rather than a switch. Only event hosts get RSVP notifications, and they arrive via push only, not email.
What happens if push isn't enabled on any device?
The Push column toggles still save your preference, but no notifications can actually arrive until you enable push on at least one device. You'll see a small hint reminding you if every push category is turned off.
Blocked in browser settings
If push is blocked in your browser for this site, you'll see a message explaining that you need to unblock it in the browser's site settings, there's nothing we can do from inside the app to override a hard block. On Chrome: Site settings → Notifications → Allow.
Custom Fields
Your club may have configured additional fields specific to your club. If any custom fields are enabled for member profiles, they will appear in a Custom Fields section on your profile page.
What Are Custom Fields?
Custom fields allow your club to collect additional information beyond the standard profile fields. Examples might include:
- A Badminton England membership number
- Your preferred shuttle brand
- How you heard about the club
- Consent for specific club activities
Editing Custom Fields
- Navigate to your Profile page
- Click Edit
- Scroll to the Custom Fields section (below Privacy Settings)
- Fill in or update the fields
- Click Save
Custom fields support validation - if a field has specific requirements (such as a maximum length or required format), you will see an error message if your input does not meet them.
Note: Only custom fields that your club has marked as "Member Can Edit" will appear here. Some custom fields may only be editable by committee members.
Contact Preferences
Set how teammates and captains can contact you:
Privacy Options

Email Address Change

- Your login will update to the new email
Deleting Your Account
The Danger Zone at the bottom of your /me/profile page is where account deletion lives. Account deletion is permanent, and if you guardian a child as their sole guardian, the flow has extra safeguards.
For the full walk-through (including what's deleted, what isn't, and what happens if you're a sole guardian), see Deleting Your Account.
Profile Completeness
The system may show a profile completeness indicator:
| Completeness | What's Needed |
|--------------|---------------|
| Basic | Name and email only |
| Standard | Plus phone and basic info |
| Complete | All fields filled, photo added |
A complete profile helps the club and your teammates!
